At Apex Engineering, we offer advanced Plasma Heat Treatment solutions using state-of-the-art RÜBIG MICROPULS® Plasma Technology. Our plasma processes provide exceptional surface engineering with precise control, minimal distortion, and consistent, repeatable results for critical engineering components.
Plasma nitriding, also known as ion nitriding or glow-discharge nitriding, is a state-of-the-art thermochemical case-hardening process. By introducing nitrogen ions into the surface of a metal component within a high-voltage vacuum chamber, we create a highly durable, wear-resistant casing.
Unlike traditional liquid or gas nitriding, the plasma process allows for independent control of temperature and nitrogen potential. This results in precise metallurgical tailoring, zero toxic byproducts, and the lowest possible thermal distortion available in the industry today.
Our Plasma Processes:
Unlike gas nitriding which requires expensive copper plating, plasma allows for 100% effective masking using simple steel plates or pastes.
Unlike gas nitriding which requires expensive copper plating, plasma allows for 100% effective masking using simple steel plates or pastes.
Achieves surface hardness up to 1200 HV depending on the steel alloy, massively increasing lifespan against abrasive friction.
Uses only non-toxic process gases (Hydrogen, Nitrogen, Argon), producing zero toxic effluents or salts.
Because of its precision, plasma nitriding is heavily utilized in high-stress sectors where components cannot afford dimensional changes after treatment.
